Bank Independent Partners with UNA

  • Florence, Ala. – Friday, August 31, 2012 – Bank Independent will team up with the University of North Alabama to provide UNA students the opportunity to win scholarship money during halftime of every home game. All past winners will come together at the final home game to compete at halftime for a semester’s worth of tuition, paid for by Bank Independent.
Students will have their first opportunity to compete for scholarship money during halftime on Saturday, September 8, 2012, with UNA playing Harding. Additional opportunities to compete at halftime will be on September 15 and 29, as well as October 13. All of the winners will come together at the final home game to compete against one another for the scholarship money. The final home game against Tarleton State will be on Saturday, November 3, 2012.
“The University of North Alabama is an important part of our community, and partnering with them has allowed us to support the local community, as well as UNA,” explains Bank Independent President Macke Mauldin. “It’s always important to us to be involved in our community and give back however we can. We’re grateful for the opportunity to work with UNA and give back to a school that gives so much to its community.”
Bank Independent will join UNA on campus every Thursday at the Student Center prior to a home game to select students to participate in the halftime event. Students will have the opportunity to play “The Price is Right” by bidding on items from the UNA bookstore. The two students who guess closest to the actual price will be allowed the opportunity to compete at halftime. Monetary prizes will be provided to both students at halftime, with the winner taking home $400 and the second place competitor taking home $100.
