UNA Scholarship Challenge

  • Sheffield, Ala. – Friday, October 26, 2012 –  Bank Independent brings four students from the University of North Alabama the opportunity to compete to win $3,500 in scholarship money during the final UNA home football game on Saturday, November 3.

Students participated throughout the season in the Bank Independent halftime competitions, where they received monetary prizes—$400 for the first place winner and the second place competitor taking home $100. Each winner from the four home games will compete against one another for the scholarship money.

The UNA student winners who are competing for the scholarship money include RJ Stein, a junior double majoring in Marketing and Management; Reid Sherrod, a freshman majoring in Computer Science; Ashlyn Richter, sophomore majoring in Chemistry and Industrial Hygiene; and Coleman Barron, a junior majoring in Finance.

“Partnering with the University of North Alabama has given us the opportunity to get more involved on campus,” shares Bank Independent President Macke Mauldin. “The UNA staff and students are an important part of our community, and we’re happy to be able give back and support our local community and the students.”

This is Bank Independent’s second year to partner with UNA for the scholarship giveaway. This year, Bank Independent and UNA collaborated throughout the football season to give away prizes on campus prior to the game and during halftime of the home football games.
